TV Install Pros Installation of a TV on the wall with wires concealed

Many of our customers in the North Shore and Boston area are looking to not only mount and install their TV, but also want to conceal the wires in wall, so the TV is the only thing you see hanging on the wall for a nice, clean install, kind of like this:

What you don’t see in this picture, is the magic of the Power Relocation kit. It’s a device that allows us to hide all TV wires including TV power in the wall, without having to bring our electrician or modify your existing electrical system, which saves you time and money.

Here’s a quick look at how the power relocation kit works:

The power relocation kit we use is manufactured by Powerbridge. We’ve tried all kinds over the years, and this kit has turned out to be the most reliable and cleanest looking of all the kits. First we cut in a double gang hole in the wall behind where the TV will hang, and then we run a snake inside the wall to fish the electrical wire (Romex) and other video cables like HDMIs (in wall rated) behind the wall. We then cut another hole near the floor at the same height as the existing outlets on the wall, where we install the “male” end of the power relocation kit, in a single gang hole. Then we plug in a white power cord which runs from the new wall box to any existing wall outlet, or surge protected power strip.

The end result is a nice, clean and safe install where there are no wires showing hanging down from the TV. The only wire you will see is the white power cord near the floor plugging into your existing outlet. Many folks have furniture or stands under their TV so this is typically not an issue, but worth considering.

Power Relocation Kit Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Clean installation, no wires exposed

  • No electrician required

  • When you move out of your home, this install type can easily be reverted back to original condition by pulling the kit out of the wall and patching the hole

  • It’s quicker and easier than tapping into existing electrical

Cons:

  • You will see a small power cord plugged into your existing outlet, but only at floor level. If you don’t have furniture or something else below, this is a consideration

  • You may want to hire a professional (TV Install Pros for instance if you’re in the Boston/North Shore of MA area), if you’re not experienced in wiring and construction projects.
